Review of the Bandito

October 26, 2008

As I mentioned before, I won a toy in a contest on Essin’ Em’s blog (go check it out, it’s an amazing read).  My part of the bargain was that I review said toy on the site from whence it came. I did so, but for reasons I’m not going to get into right now I’m not going to link to that particular shop. It’s a long story and actually has nothing to do with me, so it’s not even my story to tell. Suffice it to say I’m wary. (Edit for more info: This is basically a CYA thing. A couple of other people have had issues with the store in question, while others have had no problems at all. I always say, when in doubt, stay neutral.)

I did figure I’d share the review, though. It’s a quickie, and it’s a touch different than I posted on the other site. I added some extra information that I thought about after the fact and corrected some grammar errors. Without further ado:

The Bandito by Fun Factory

Okay, wow. This is a fun toy.

This was my first silicone toy, and if they’re all this good, I’m hooked (so is the Bandito, coincidentally). The silicone was non-irritating for my girly bits, which is good. I seem to have developed a sensitivity to jelly and have had to dispose of a couple of beloved toys…*hangs head in respect*

First, as I’m sure you’ve all heard in the past, silicone is good. It can be sanitized completely so it can be shared; give it a good boiling.  It’s a lovely smooth material, and it has some decent weight to it.

This particular toy has a very distinctive curve at the tip for g-spot stimulation…and boy howdy, it does its job. It’s not a huge toy; it’s not a small one either. Perfect size, perfect curve, and perfect material. The surface of the dildo has beautiful ridges and whorls and looks sculpted.

It is harness-compatible, but I didn’t try it with a harness (don’t own one yet). The three-sided base seems as though it would be excellently designed for the function, though. Speaking of the base, while it doesn’t look like a suction cup, it does work as one. I haven’t yet found the right angle to use it when suctioned to a wall, but it stays on strongly.

A few caveats: First, if you’re like me, g-spot stimulation is wonderful if you’re already quite worked up, but annoying if you’re not. Make sure you’re very very ready by the time you slip this guy in, and it’ll be spectacular. A corollary to this warning: if you are an ejaculator, get a towel ready.  Srsly.

Second, being silicone, don’t use your silicone lube with it. Ever. It’ll destroy it. Don’t even think of your silicone lube when you’re holding the Bandito.

Third, get something to keep it in, even if it’s a big ziplock (bigger than a quart). Silicone attracts everything. Dust, lint, cat hair…let it go too long and it’ll look like a lint brush nightmare.  As a side note, silicone would make an excellent cat grooming tool.

All in all…worth the price. I’d definitely recommend.

I Can Has Toys?

October 19, 2008

So I won a contest!

Essin’ Em ran a contest on her blog Sexuality Happens, and the prize was the Bandito.  My limerick squeaked out a win (not sure how; there were some really good ones submitted. Check them out).  Also, check out the contest she’s throwing for her two year blogiversary. It looks like a hoot and I can’t wait to see the results.

Yeah, so I’ll soon have a new toy. I’ve been wanting one anyway, and this one looks like it’s fun and versatile. ;)  It’ll be my first silicone toy as well, and I’m looking forward to it.  Fun Factory has a good reputation, from what I understand.  And of course, in good blogger fashion, I’m just gonna have to share my opinions when I get a chance to try it out. *grin*

In other news, I’ve changed my mind on the dyeing of the hemp rope. I’m leaving one 30′ length its natural color and dyeing the other three lengths with three different methods. When I’m done, I’ll let you know how each method worked. That post should be up by Monday if all goes well.

Again, thank you all for your patience during the past couple of weeks.  Normal posting should be back on track soon.

Pervertibles, First Installment!

October 8, 2008

I’d like to make this a semi-regular installment on this blog. We’ll see how it goes.

The word ‘pervertible’ is not a word I coined, but my personal definition of it is this: something that is marketed as a mundane item that can be used in a decidedly different, and kinky, way.

I consider it different from DIY. Pervertibles are things that are usable as they are, or with very minor alterations. The DIY stuff consists of toys made from other things, if you get the distinction.

This first installment will consist of things I’ve already picked up, where I got the item and approximate pricing. The ones I’ve used I’ll review. ;)

1. Dish Brush. Dollar Tree. $1.

This worked really well. The wide head full of stiff bristles got nice squirming, and the little bitty area of even stiffer scrubbing bristles on the backside (when I wrote this, I meant backside of the brush, but backside of the victim works in this context too. :)) got even more. This experiment was a success.

2. Mini-Duster. Dollar Tree. $1.

I figured this for a tickling kind of toy, but it wasn’t as effective as I’d hoped. I may go for a second test run of it with a different bottom (and different body parts).

3. Flipper. Dollar Tree. $1.

This was a fun one. *grin* It’s hard plastic, but just very slightly flexible. It gets a nice snap on various body parts. This was a very good success.

4. Wooden ‘paddle’. Craft store. < $1.

This thing was even labeled ‘paddle’! Very nice, very stingy, completely nondescript. Another success.

5. Various and sundry clothespins, pegs, and clamps. Dollar Tree. $1 each pack. (cat not included)

Wow, these worked well. I’d never played with these guys before Saturday night (either on myself or others). I used the metal ones on DB for just a few minutes (he hadn’t used any quite that tight before). When they did finally come off and the blood started coming back…that was fun to watch. *grin* Now, the wooden ones: CK and I were doing a little playing last night(not a full-on scene, just a little fun) and he dragged ’em out. All I have to say is: wooooow. Best buck I ever spent. My nipples are still sore and supersensitive. I think I may coat the bitey end of a few of the wooden ones in tool dip for easier cleaning (in case I end up using ’em somewhere other than nipples. *grin*). Big success!

6. Loofah glove. Dollar Tree. $1.

Mildly scratchy surface. I haven’t used this one yet, but I think it’ll be interesting when I do.

7. Handled cutting board. Old Pottery (inexpensive kitchen/decorative stuff). $1.99.

This is going to be a very effective paddle, I think. *grins evilly* I find myself walking through dollar stores, craft stores and kitchen stores smacking various things as subtly as possible against my thigh to test its pervertibility quotient. ;) This was my latest treasure.

Like I said, I hope to make this at least a semi-regular thing. I’ll post websites as I find them. If any of you have any ideas or interesting sites, send ’em my way! There’s an email link below. Pictures are always welcome, and I’ll include any submissions in a future installment, credited to the submitter. :)

Conditioning Rope

October 7, 2008

(edited because I completely forgot to reference and link to the company I purchased the rope from as I meant to!)

The hunt for rope began at Home Depot.

I picked up a package of a nylon/polyester solid-braid blend and made floggers out of it. This began my fascination with the stuff. After that, I picked up another pack of 8mm nylon/poly, this one more of a twisted rope. I cut this into thirty-foot lengths, and this was my first set of bondage rope (the set I dyed with kool-aid, if you’ve been taking notes). I also picked up some ten-millimeter stock. I used this to make a rather heavy flogger that’s quite nice.

In the interim, I bought a batch of manila and another of sisal. The manila simply isn’t going to get where I want it to be, therefore I gave up. As for the sisal, I researched it and realized it really wasn’t going to suit my needs before I wasted any time trying to condition it.

So I finally got my hemp rope in.  It’s from a company called Rawganique out of Canada.

After getting good information from Ellie Lumpesse, I started by singeing the rope to remove any sharp or long fibers.  I had a pot of water on hand in case of incident. The water attracted a certain curious pussycat.
After that, I plopped it into the pot to let it boil. It boiled for six long, stinky hours. I then dumped it out and hung it to dry.

This morning, I stretched it. My tools? Gloved hands and my feet.

After the stretching came more singeing, then I oiled it with scented mineral oil. I’m not sure how much oil is actually called for, but I’m going to be working the rope more and adding more oil. It’s very very lovely, and I have four thirty-foot lengths of it.

I also have a spare three feet that I’ll be using for several dyeing experiments. This first batch is staying its natural color, however.

Conclusion: While I’m not completely done conditioning this rope, I will say it was worth the time. I don’t know if it’s going to be something I do often, or learn to do with any efficiency, but I’ve been enjoying this. I now understand the work that Twisted Monk puts into his stock, and I’ve heard his stuff is absolutely amazing.

By the way, check out my bitchin’ sailor’s whipping:

It looks so much better than the electrical tape I did have on the ends of all my rope before. Oh, and the blurry black thing? Not the monster from Lost. That’s a cat trying to get his catfoot into frame while mommy’s shooting pictures.

There’s something about making your own tools. You’re putting your own time and sweat into it, and you’re putting something of yourself into it. There’s a connection there. My rope floggers aren’t the prettiest critters, but I know the feel of them. The vampire glove I made (which I gifted to DB) was downright ugly…but it got the job done, and I knew it. I urge everyone to make at least one toy for your bag. ;) See if you don’t enjoy it.

Tomorrow: Pervertibles!!

Plans Coming Up

September 16, 2008

Haven’t really done much to write about in the past few days, so I thought I’d write up things I’ve got planned instead. I can tell you that I’m kind of twitching to play; I think I’m addicted. ;)
Anyway, here goes:

  • The manila/sisal experiment was put on hold. I found out after research that the sisal is not suitable at all for my purposes and can leave tiny splinters in the skin. I may be a masochist, but I ain’t that much of one. The manila I put on hold because it seems to be overly fuzzy and I’m still trying to find an efficient way to singe off the excess (just using a candle seems like it’ll take forever). I’ll be getting some hemp soon, and I’ll try the conditioning thing again.
  • I’m going to try to redo my soft leather flogger prototype with more solid sections of the goodwill jacket.
  • I think I may have to indulge in purchasing something from Lelo. They’re pricy toys, but I haven’t heard a bad review yet.
  • Research wax play. I’m getting quite curious about it.
  • Figure out how the hell to do the braid-weaves people use for flogger handles. I have no clue.

Any suggestions?

Rope Conditioning

September 10, 2008

I have several lengths of nylon/polyester rope that are essentially usable out of the package, and they seem like they’ll work quite well. However, I keep hearing how much better natural fiber ropes are for bondage (and I’m sure they’ll hold knots better). So, gonna try this.

I already had a couple of lengths of rope sitting around unconditioned (a length of sisal and a length of manila). These are not ropes that are traditionally considered the best for bondage, but I’m not planning on suspending anyone with them and the price was right for experimentation. ;)

I’m doing some research right now (*gasp* No, research? Me? Never!) on proper conditioning, and as usual I’m getting several different viewpoints on the best way to do so.

Some people say mink oil (can’t afford it! ;)), tea oil, simple mineral oil, baby oil or vaseline, and some people just say to condition the rope with the oils from your own skin. Some people say boil, some don’t.

Does anyone have any suggestions that have worked well for them?

HN…F?

September 5, 2008

So I missed Half-Nekkid Thursday. I worked way too long and by the time I got home I was too wiped out to do anything. Sooo…

Happy Half-Nekkid Friday!

My new cuffs. I think they’re technically made for ankles, but they work for the wrists too. Got a good deal on ’em, and they actually buckle as opposed to the cuffs I’ve got now (velcro. even when I’m restrained with them, I know for a fact that I can get out at any time I like).

Can’t wait to use ’em as they’re intended. *grin*

Leather!

August 29, 2008

So I bought an old leather jacket at Goodwill for twenty bucks. I did this as much to learn how to work with leather as anything else, because it was simply cheaper than buying leather of the same grade just to practice on.

The jacket was of a thin leather with a soft, not-quite-suede backside. I deconstructed the jacket, and used the arms to make a prototype flogger. I really only made it originally as a pattern, figuring I’d buy good leather to make a real flogger. I kind of wanted to get the feel of it.

Y’know what? I think it may just work as a real toy. The 26 falls are 1/4″, and so very very soft. It makes a wicked slapping sound, but a minimum of actual impact. It may even be softer than the brushed-out rope.

I’m pleased with the result. Now to buy good thicker leather and make something a little more intense…*grins evilly*

Getting Bolder on the HNT Thing…

August 28, 2008

So this time I’m showing off one of my new toys: nylon rope that’s been through my supersecret patented dyeing proces (okay, so not supersecret. I used Kool-Aid. What? It’s pretty and it smells like grape. ;)). The pic above is the black cherry version, the one I’m wearing is grape. *grin*

Happy HNT!
(by the way, Dee…took the bra off. Where’s my chocolate? ;))

Dollar Store Run and Craft Day

August 21, 2008

After the play-party the other night, I got some interesting ideas for pervertibles and decided to go on a hunt. Off to the Dollar Store I went!

Click, of course, for a larger image. There are four different types of clips: wooden clothespins for the purists, rubberized spring clips, hard plastic spring clips and metal spring clips. They all have different strengths. I also picked up the makeup and pencil cases I have them in.

The red fuzzy thing is a mini-duster. Very soft and tickly. The black things below the duster are vinyl headbands. They actually deliver a decent stinging slap, and one has tiny vinyl teeth on one side. I’m trying to decide if I want to try to fabricate some sort of handle for them.

Then there’s the black spatula. Don’t laugh, I saw one used to good effect at the party. ;) Then a dish brush with two nice scratchy brush surfaces with different textures. There’s a three-pack of hand sanitizer, a package of thumbtacks, and a pair of thin work gloves with a slightly nubbly grip surface on the palm. The long thing in the upper right: a two pack of glow-stick necklaces. *grin* 22″, whippy and stingy, and come with a black plastic sleeve to protect them before you actually want to use them. The sleeve itself is also interestingly stingy, and in a slightly different way.

A nice selection of stuff, no? And right around fifteen bucks, including tax.

Now, last night, during our weekly tabletop roleplaying game (my entire gaming group is kinky. It’s actually very cool), I pull out one of the gloves, some glue, and the thumbtacks. Normally during the game I’m snuggling on the couch with CK, so he was understandably curious when I started focusing on my project instead. SC caught what I was doing almost immediately and started grinning. FM couldn’t quite see me from his angle, so he just glanced over once in a while to see what was happening.

Once it became obvious what I was doing, CK perked up. “What does that feel like?” “Can I feel it?” I kept getting at various points of my creative process. *grin* I finally finished the prototype. I think I may redo it with the other glove, because the first one just ain’t cute. But, just so you can see:

It’s interesting. When I first tried it out, I was obviously using it too lightly, because CK started laughing from the tickling. I finally found the right pressure after a few tries and feedback from the boy.

Slightly off-topic, but that’s one thing I need to work on with any implement: Because I’m new and I don’t really know what the real effect of some of these things are when wielded by another person, I tend to be too timid. I need to be less cautious, but I also don’t want to go too hard, either. I’ll find a balance eventually, after some practice.

First Play Party: Wow.

August 17, 2008

It was actually hard coming up with a title for this post. The first thing that popped into my head was humorous, of course (it wouldn’t be me, otherwise) : “First Play Party: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly”. Problem is, there was no bad and no ugly. One perfectly good title down the tubes.

It was a blast. There’s an orientation before every party for first-timers, which makes sure the rules are known before entering the playspace. As for the playspace, all I can say is: Wow. Just wow.

And that thing about not playing during the first party, just observing? Yeah. Right. That lasted about an hour and a half. *grin*

I can’t go into a great deal of detail about the space or the people because I have no sort of permission from any of the participants to do so, but a few things I saw:

  • Some beautiful, beautiful clothing. I want a corset more than ever now.
  • Some beautiful, beautiful people, male and female alike. Many of the beautiful, strong, sensuous dominant women there? Larger women. Gorgeous.
  • A feeding scene. Not my kink personally, but fascinating to watch.
  • CBT performed on a couple of amazingly tough gentlemen.
  • A wonderful foot-fetish scene.
  • Some wonderful toys I’d never seen before. An evil stick? Gods, who came up with this thing? Instant welt, every time. I want one.

And some things I did:

  • Learned to lace a corset. A waist cincher, to be exact. Got her down to about 22.5 inches.
  • Learned a tiny bit of shibari. More just a little bit of the idea behind shibari, but it counts.
  • Used a riding crop for the first time. Love it.
  • Gave birthday spankings to an attractive gentleman I’d just met that evening (‘spankings’ is a relative term. There was a riding crop involved).
  • Flogged, scratched, bit, admired the ass of, and cropped a lovely young man that I’d never even spoken to (I was brought in as a third top for this lucky guy).

That’s a quick overview of it, of course, but it gives a basic idea of the excellent first experience I had. I really and truly hope I reflected well on my ‘sponsors’ (SC and FM; they’ve been members of this group for a good while now). I tried not to come off as too much of a tourist, but I don’t know how successful I was. There was so much to see!

I do have to admit, by the time midnight rolled around, I was a little overwhelmed. Not in a bad way, but there was just a great deal to process.

It was like Disneyland for pervs. Awesome. :)

Evolution of a Flogger

August 12, 2008

In my last post, I put up a picture of a flogger I’d made out of twine. It consisted of a large number of little tiny flat braids (technically plaits, but who’s counting). Go look so you know what I’m talking about. I’ll wait.

Did you see it? Okay. So it looked at that point like a light sensation toy, something scratchy and tickly but not really painful, and lightly testing it on an arm and a leg bore that theory out.

Well, last night I got creative.
What I did here was take the flat braids in groups of four and made thick, dense round braids with them. I finished the ends in electrical tape and also reinforced the end of the handle with the same tape.

The tape is for aesthetics, laziness and (I’ll admit it) a touch of nastiness.

I think the light sensation toy has evolved into something a little more interesting…I’ll let you know how the test runs go. ;)

I Can Has Impulse Buy?

August 8, 2008

So I normally don’t impulse buy. I just don’t have the income to do so.

I’ve been window-shopping for nice floggers online to get an idea of pricing structure for ’em, figuring I’d have to save up to get ones of decent quality (100+ for toys! eeek!). So yesterday, I go to a local porn shop to see if they have decent leather cuffs. No dice, unfortunately, but they do have a really really pretty heavy leather flogger in black and red…

It’s really aesthetically pleasing. The strands look almost braided, but they’re actually looped into themselves. It has a nice weight to it, and it’s a decent price (still pricy, but it was right…there…).

I’ll be eating ramen for a couple of weeks, but I got meself a toy.

(easily identifiable tattoo once again horribly covered with good ol MSPaint)

And yeah. It has a nice kick to it. I started to worry after the purchase that I’d gotten taken for a ride, and maybe the quality sucked (it looked decent to me, but I’m also not completely sure what to look for). I felt much better after SC looked it over and pronounced it worth the purchase. She also got a kick out of the little lace flogger I’d made, which made me proud (the little thing leaves marks! Nice ones!).

Anyway…my toy collection is meager, but growing. I think I may be an official pervert now…*grin*
